Sitting there,
staring out into a world which despises my well being,
and in which I return the disgust --- I think of you in the still silence.
I wonder how,
and then I wonder why you do this to me.
You haunt my thoughts as a phantom will in the opera house.
Mysteriously, unexpectedly, yet knowingly.
It is as if you are the puppeteer,
and I am your puppet.
Whenever you feel you wish for me to dance,
your will that channels through your strings raises my feet,
gliding them along the dance floor,
then they swivel my hips to make a fool of me.

I flounder about,
almost ashamed of how consistently you prowl throughout my veins.
I scratch my skin for you are an itch,
an itch that never ceases.
My eyes light,
gleaming in a painful lust for you and another emotion.
This second feeling I drive away from all my being,
avoiding it with every pore.
Having to face it again would be like homicide
for it will shoot me point-blank before my lashes blink in the crossfire.
Now I sit and wonder still
with my thoughts floating in mid-air above me.

Did it cross your mind lately...
