The new owners made some serious mistakes running the site after they first bought it. The site used to have no filter or mods & the admin never logged in, so the users ran the site completely. People argued about nothing & cursed at each other & had a bloody good time. Then when the site was sold or whatever the new admin came in & added the filter & a bajillion new rules, then banned anyone who broke the rules when they didn't know what most of the rules were. Anytime a thread went off topic at all the people making it off topic were temporarily banned & their posts deleted, anyone who argued was banned. They ran off 90% of the users & the tyrannical mods they first appointed ran off the rest. I myself went inactive for about 3-4 months & when I came back everyone had left, even the first batch of moderators. I guess they got bored with no one to bully.
Anyway, the site never recovered from that particular folly, a few of the old hands came back & a few new people joined, now we have a dozen or so regular posters.

We've now had the problem sorted! Images/Buttons/Icons that were missing are now back in action. Also, the avatars have been re-added and a few other things! Although i'm really not a fan of the new justachat design, it's awful. Why change something that didn't need changing in the first place i wonder? :S

I never lost an argument, especially to morons here - actually, Mullet and I were once forced to a standstill, but I do not count that as a loss. Anyway, it's impossible to lose when you're arguing on an entirely different plane of intelligence, and when you can deny someone's existence and back it up with a sophisticated and logical philosophical argument.

And yes, I did leave once I lost my mod powers, because hey, when there's no fun left (yes, banning people), what incentive does one have to stay? However, it was the final straw, not the single factor.
