"Race-ism"
Written by: Blk Sapphire

Racism is -
"The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others"

That is how it is defined within the American Heritage Dictionary
and Websters
The word "ism" is a theory, a system, or practice
And race is supposed to be the color of my skin
Of your skin
Of our skin
So now remind me, how did we,
as human beings,
get into the sh*t that we are still in?

White vs. Black
Black vs. White
Light vs. Dark
Dark vs. Light
We should be over the stereotypes
But it is always about "My skin is better than yours"
And it is always about "I have the straight hair"
Not the nappy kind that gets all tangled, and kinky
in the mother's comb
At home
When she needs to make her kid look decent as an atonement
For all the things that her ancestors had went
Through, and over, and in and out
Because it was a means of survival
Nowadays it's all about mixing it all up to create a superior creature
Only to have it looked down upon as a ******* race
A breed with no face

Now the questions become:
"Who are you?"
"What are you?"
If you've got the light skin, you can pass and are exalted
Loved and cherished, but still the humilation hangs around your neck
because you're reminded that you are within a foreign country
One that belongs not to you and me
for that is plain absurdity
It's not the country of the free
Not with the chains still buckled tight
Reminding the biracial child,
"Hey kid, you're not black or white"

There should be no practice
No system
Or theory
Or doctrine to define anything that is blood
So how did we, as human beings,
get into this downward spiral?
Combatants within a war that never ends
That always continues until everyone has lost all their defense
And they're left vulnerable?
Forced to recognize that the person next to them is human
With a different face, a different skin color
And they have only one option:
To accept them as their sister or brother.
