"Newborn"

Waking light into stunned eyes
Rising, rising, rising
Straight up, and alert
A yelp of need, of want
So sweet, innocent and tender
Dimpled cheeks, dimpled skin
The softest of hairs, whispering on a tiny head
Sweet, sweet child
Unbeknowst to the world's dangers
A mother cannot be any happier
There is only love and joy

Cradling him in her arms
He rocks back to sleep
He only wanted care and love
A newborn's lullaby

"Hello sweetie..."
