Music genre poll, what are you listening to?

(Oh geeze the title annoys me. OMG! I'm such an idiot I spelled "Music" wrong in the title, please forgive my typo. Nevermind, I fixed it. . . in one spot only, darn.) I can't help but wonder what other people like to listen to, it interests me for some reason. Please take the poll for myself, others, and perhaps, your own interest, as well. I am very sorry if I have forgotten any music genres. Also, feel free to talk about music as muchas you want here and if anyone has some good bands they want to recommend to myself and others that'd be greatly appreciated. To the Admins mainly, I suppose, if there is already a poll like this I am truly sorry, I checked around and couldn't locate one, all though I was expecting it to be extremely easy to find.

Alternative? I beg to differ! I listen to a lot of alternative, but whatever, to each their own.

These days Alternative is a amalgamation of any genre that isn't Metal, Country, Rap or generic Rock. Alternative was only justifiable as a genre of its own in the 80s with bands like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Fugazzi, Black Flag and The JAMC. It's not just Alt though, Metal is in the same situation. Metal is segmented into Thrash, Speed, Death, Black, Glam, etc, etc. Genres suck, basically.

I do agree with "Genres suck, basically". But I don't really go by that system you showed an example of, I suppose. To me, alternative isn't just "what's left over". . . It's, how should I put it?. . . It's more-so, bands like Sugarcult, Lostprophets, Placebo, Thousand Foot Krutch, (maybe) Chiodos, (maybe) Ludo, and a few others like them. . . thoes that are truly "left over" are in the genre "Unclassifiable" (Which is a real genre)

There is no link betwen the vast majority of Alternative bands. You can 'subgenrelise' it more than any other genre, to the point where it gets ridiculous. Mainstream alternative bands today are different, and mostly ****.

I believe that the bands I named, had conections to eachother. . . almost "bitter-sweet". . . I can't really explain it. . . Besides, most of the "Alternative" bands don't seem "alternative" to me, they seem mis-placed, there-for I don't think it can be subdivided too much (Alternative-Rock, Alternative-Pop, and Alternative-Punk would probably be sufficient).

No Wave, Dark Wave, Gothic, Sub-Gothic, Punk, Proto-Punk, Ska, Punkabilly, Skacore, Indie (even worse genre title), Rocksteady, Grunge, Pyschobilly, 'Emo' /spew, etc, etc. That is just the tip of the iceburg of what is classified as Alternative today, it is ridiculous and there is absolutely minimal contact between any of these subgenres.

They are individual genres as far as the music goes. But record companies, MTV, all the **** that commercializes music, clump them all together.

It's so hard & pointless to try to classify bands who have been influenced by so many different things. So many genres that used to be clearly defined are becoming hazy, like how every single lame emo band is lumped in with rock music or how all sorts of random pop & R&B are lumped with alternative.

Yeah, that's what I hate too, but I suppose it's handy for this type of thing (you know general questions, I was gonna do a favourite band poll, but that'd be abit hard to do with only ten opptions, lol). I notice alot of bands are mis-placed in terms of genres. It bugs me to no end.
