Dawn Of the Dead remake was great, I have the originals in my Netflix queue. I didn't like a couple of the remakes. Resident Evil movies are good and I liked 28 Weeks Later better then 28 Days Later. Isn't Shaun Of the Dead a zombie spoof movie?

Shaun of the Dead is a spoof, but it still has zombies in it. I want to see the 28 ... later films and the original Dawn of the Dead, it's just kind of hard to manage it when I'm too young to buy/rent them, and my parents dissaprove, and I don't have Sky, so I basically have to wait till they get stuck on terrestrial TV. And on a slightly unrelated note, the original Texas Chainsaw film is on tomorrow, and parents are going off to London, so it should awesome.

That's why I love Netflix (which is an online rental company) because I can get whatever I want. My parents don't care, they didn't even care when I was younger. The original Texas Chainsaw is awesome.

I prefered the Texas Chainsaw remake to the original. The ending was better in my opinion. My mum doesnt care to much about what I watch but my dad's mega strict. He thinks I shouldn't watch 15 rated films if they are 18 in Ireland, which is just stupid because we aren't in Ireland!

Yeah I live in England. I told my dad it doesn't make sense but he just won't listen! I think the age ratings on films and stuff should be changed anyway. People are different now to when they were made up. I'm pretty sure if I made a film where a just stuck a camera on my head and went through a normal day of high school, it would be rated 18, with all the swearing, and teens lack of morals, and the strangely large number of lesbians at my school... I wouldn't actually be allowed to watch a film about my own life, I'm pretty sure on that.

Parents never listen, especially fathers! So an 18 rating in England is like a rated R rating in the U.S.? Haha, yeah you probably wouldn't be able to watch it and you're dad would seem to make a big deal out of it even though it IS your life. Well, I'd keep sneaking watching the movies when they are not home. I'd be doing the same thing.

quite long post coming up...

I'm pretty sure nearly everyone does the same thing lol. Although I have been slightly cautious of certain 18 horror films, after watching psycho when I was far too young and I had a fear of shower curtains which I still haven't completely got over. Seriously. I don't really care what I watch anymore though, horror films rarely stick with me after watching them anymore. As far as I can remember the last horror film I watched that really creeped me out was The Ring which I watch when I was about 10. that's five years of unscary scary movies... I still love the suspense most horror movies have though. The next non-18 horror movie that's coming out is Prom Night. It doesn't look that great, but it'll be the first horror movie out in ages that we can actually watch, so YAY! Also have you seen 'Shrooms? It looked really good but I couldn't see it at the cinema, but it recently came out on DVD so I figured I could probably find a way to watch it if I really tried.

Did you see the original Psycho or the remake? The remake did nothing for me but the original Psycho, for me, will always be one of the scariest movies ever made. Not like, I was scarred for life but it definently leaves you with the feeling of being creeped out. When I was younger, maybe 5 but I think alittle older, I watched the original Child's Play movie and it scared the hell out of me. Watching the movies now they seem sort of stupid. I wanted to see Prom Night, I think I'll get that on DVD. I have never heard of Shrooms but I am going to look it up on Netflix, if they have it.

I don't know if Psycho was the original or not. I thought they only made one! I've never actually heard of Child's Play but I assume it's very scary. I saw an ad for Shrooms on TV yesterday. It looks really scary, but then again so did The Village, which wasn't. I still really want to see it though!

Haha, well was the one you watched in black and white? That is what the original was made in. The remake had Vince Vaughn and Anne Heche in it. I looked up Shrooms on Netflix and everyone who reviewed it said it was pretty bad. I'd probably still see it! The Village was okay, Lady In the Water was TERRIBLE. I'm attempting another M. It was in colour, so it was obviously the remake. I don't remember Vince Vaughn being in it, but I didn't know who he was when I watched it. I just finished watching the original Dawn of the Dead. It was way better than the remake, although I found it a bit boring at the beginning. It also made me realise that I have never seen a zombie film that actually has a conclusive ending, except for Shaun of the Dead. They never actually escape from the zombies properly.

The original is definently much better. Yeah Vince Vaughn played Norman Bates. I have to start seeing all the original movies since I have seen all the remakes. It seems that in zombie movies they never get away from the zombies in the end but I guess that's the entire point. You aren't suppose to escape them.

Yes you are. Films are meant to have happy endings. It's the rules. The only film I've ever seen where the bad guy wins in the end is Swordfish, but the good guy also won, in a way, so it was alright... Besides in Resident Evil they escaped the zombies for a bit. Then the stupid people let them out at the end and everyone died. Stupid stupid people.

You're like my friend. She wants every movie to have a happy ending or if it's a romantic comedy she always wants the two people to get together at the end and if they don't she hates it, haha. The last Resident Evil movie should be coming out soon, I wonder if they all survive when they get to Alaska.

I bet the main character lady dies. They will probably get in a hopeless situation, and then she'll be all "Time to take out the trash!" And then she'll blow herself up, along with the umbrella corporation. Then they will replace her with a clone.
Most rom-com's suck.

I was thinking she probably dies to. They will imply that there could be another movie but I don't think they will continue after this one. There isn't much more you can say about it. I was also thinking that they could reach Alaska and the "safe" place is already run by zombies!

Yeah that's what thought would happen, and I reckon she will either have some massive confusing battle with all her clones, or they will switch sides and kill all the zombies together. Or at least one clone will be on our side. I can't see them making a 5th film either because the plot would have got worn out by then and it would just suck.

I forgot about all the clones she discovered. I say there will be a great scene of the clones versus the zombies! I hope it doesn't suck. Sometimes you follow a movie through alot of sequels and the last one is disappointing. Like Saw, first 3 were great the 4th wasn't that good.

That would be so awesome if they all had a massive war! The zombies would just get massacred though. I reckon it won't be that good either, as they're probably starting to run out of ideas. I saw Indiana Jones 4 today. I thought it was pretty good, but the storyline was basically a load of crap, and really predictable. The car chase in the jungle was awesome though.

With Indiana Jones I think that it had one of those ending it was either you loved it or you hated it. I have read alot of reviews that people hated the movie just because of the ending. I admit that it was sort of unbelievable but I loved the movie more for the action then anything else.

Also remember we were saying they should rethink some age ratings. Well they have! I was in HMV and noticed that The Shining was a 15, and so was Starship Troopers, but they used to be 18s. Some guy who works there said that loads of old films were being re-rated

I am seeing The Happening when it comes out. From what I gather from the trailer it seems that it's some sort of airbourne chemical agent that effects the people that it comes in contact with and there is three stages 1) you can't speak 2) you can't move and 3) it makes you want to commit suicide. Of course I'm probably totally wrong, haha.

That's great, do you know how far back they are re rating movies? Like are they movies from 20-30 years ago or are they re rating movies as far back as like last year?

How are the meant to commit suicide if they can't move? Makes no sense heh. My friend said it's about some virus that makes everyone kill themselves too.
I don't know how far back they are doing the re-rating but I don't think it would be films in this century, at least. I tried looking it up on google but I didn't find anything about it.

It may be different for certain people. Like one person might not be able to speak but the next person might kill themselves.

I meant to say I saw the trailer it, but I missed out the word trailer, but I'll definitely see it when it comes out. I guess I shouldn't expect a good ending though right? I also saw a trailer for this other film. I can't remember what it's called, but it's got Shia LaBouf or whatever his name is, the kid in Transformers and the last Indiana Jones, and he's getting chased by the FBI or something. Do you know what that is? It looks really good.

Really? I have heard nothing but good reviews on it. Then again, everyone said Iron Man was awesome and I thought it was just good, nothing to write home about. See, for The Mist I read the story so that's why I hated the ending but my friend hadn't read the story and she thought the ending was pretty lame to. The only good thing of the film was it introduced me to Sam Witwer, who is SO hot. Watch out for him, he plays the main military guy in the movie. Yes, I think it's called The Eagle Eye, I saw a trailer for it during Indiana Jones. It looks pretty good, in the U.S. it comes out in the fall.

I just saw it, at 9:00 two hours ago, actually. I agree with you, I didn't like it and it was a weak plot (I think), also the point of Will Smith being the only good thing I agree with too, I thought he was pretty good in it. However, my friend, the one I saw it with, said that it wa very good and there was a whole underlying (is that correct?) meaning to the movie, overall, he loved it I believe.

Just seeing the previews of The Dark Knight I can say that Heath Ledger definently deserves an Oscar nomination if not a win. For those of you who don't know Heath Ledger ("The Joker") died 6 months ago from a drug overdose. I forget the name of the actor, they said the name on the news but it was a few years ago. That actor was the first to get the Oscar after death. James Dean was nominated twice after he died after he filmed the movie Giant but he didn't get either award. I have not seen trailers for Leonardo's new movie. Lmao what did you like about Disturbia??i don't see a point? like i said earlier some teen movie w/o any touch of humor and some suspense at final part of the movie which also was pretty predictable.

Edit: Here is something i read just now.
Batman smashes Spidey in box office.

Jack Black is okay but I never really found him that funny. I think the only movie that I would consider seeing him in is Tropic Thunder. I only think Disturbia was predictable if you had seen the original movie it is based on, Rear Window. I had doubts going into the movie that I may not like it but it was a pleasant surprise. I thought the funny part was when the main guy started blasting some cheesey love song just to interrupt the party of the girl he liked next door. Plus you were never really sure if the neighbor was a serial killer or not. I knew the Dark Knight made $155 million the last time I heard of it but I think it will make well over $200 maybe even $300 by the end of it's run at the movies. Plus it will probably be #1 in DVD sales.

Haha, I think Rear Window was probably released in the 1950's/1960's. Alfred Hitchc0ck directed it. We agree to disagree, trust me there are plenty of movies I have hated that my friends have loved and vice versa. Me and my best friend still argue about Vantage Point. Which I hated and she loved.

He was the main guy in Vantage Point who saved the president at the end, you know the secret service agent? I felt the movie focused to much on his character when the movie was suppose to be about several different characters. Matthew Fox was good as the secret service guy gone bad, though.

I hate the number of trailers they show before every movie. Like if they say the movie starts at 8 and you get there at 8, you'll end up spending about 45 mins just staring at trailers of completely unrelated movies which is pretty freaking irritating. And on top of that, in a few cinemas they have now started putting up adverts as well.... i reckon in a few years ought to get to an 8pm show at 11 pm!! lol..

Advertisements are already done where I go. It's like depending on the movie, the bigger the blockbuster the more the trailers. Like for Eagle Eye they went on for 20 minutes atleast. For Mirrors there were like 4. It's annoying, all that stuff they show 30 minutes before the movie should be for the trailers.

I know!! Like when we went to see dark knight we had bought like two big buckets of pop corn and by the time the freaking trailers finished we also finished the pop corn... lol :D

I guess if you look at it in a optimistic way, when the trailers come you are free to other fun stuff, if you catch my drift!!

lol, yeah I know what you are saying. I usually don't eat anything when I go to a movie but I usually see people going up for seconds if a movie has alot of trailers.

I saw Atonement over the weeked which is a really good movie. I also saw the sequel to Airplane which wasn't as good.

It's spelt Farrelly, and I thought Meet the Parents was better than Meet the Fockers. Sequels are always worse, with the exception of Terminator 2, Saw 2 and Bad Boys 2, which were all awesome!

i hate to admit it but i think the kid is right! i reckon it is farrelly!! but i liked saw 1 a lot better than all the rest!! and yea meet the fockers was a total no no!! and while we are on the topic of sequels i thought step up 2 was lot better than step up 1!! i guess its because the makers of sequels try to hard plus an original piece can never be equaled, thats why it is an original!!

PS: did that last line make any sense at all!! :D

think what you said again coz i wanna list some of the movies i can remember of
If you call these movies as sequels, i'll start with;
- Die hard then,
- Lord of the rings,(my personal fav.)
- Star wars!,
- Fast and Furious,
- American Pie
- Rocky
- Rambo(idk is that the real name of the movie? w/e)
- Toy Story
- Harry Potter
- X men
- Matrix
- Batman - Dark Knight
- Spiderman
- Kill Bill maybe
- also Indiana Jones,
- Godfather(haven't watched but they say Godfather II was good enough)
- Bourne Supremacy
- umm Dawn of the Dead
- then comes Evil Dead
- Rush Hour
that's all i can think of right now, but i'm pretty sure there are lots of other good sequels.
Haza, you can't say "sequels are ALWAYS worse". It's not always.
that list is just more than enough to prove you wrong.
and that list excludes three of the good sequels you named.

I liked Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers equally but I agree Saw 2 was good. Actually the Saw series was good up to 3. Saw 4 was kind of dumb and I don't know how Saw 5 is going to be. I thought they were done with the series after 5 but I heard they are looking to cast Saw 6 to.

i gotta disagree with you on that too lol.
Looking at the movie as a whole, direction, actors performance, storyline, drama, choreography Step UP was good.
The Streets was good sequel but relatively it was weak in terms of good storyline, actors performance and such.
It's just the choreography, dance steps and "THE Street flavour" made it look all good.
once again The Streets was good sequel but movie as a whole Step UP was better.

OK I agree Rush Hour 3 was better, but with all the rest that I've seen the original was best. (BTW films like Star Wars and LOTR I don't count as sequel because it's part of a continuous storyline and some films might be better than others simply because that part of the storyline is better)

How the hell can they make Saw 6. Saw 5 is being advertised as the last one saying that it'll tie everything up. Surely they're running out of ideas by now. I haven't seen Saw 4 but Saw 3 was pretty dumb. Saw 1 the story was better but I just love the traps and stuff in Saw 2 and the end is hilarious!

I thought saw 3 would be the end of it! but they ended up taking out a saw 4! and now even saw5 and now they are talking about saw 6! this is how sequels end up being ****! they just don't know when to call it quits! now because all the latter ones are crap the whole series starts to look bad!!! in anycase the traps and stuff have also started to become really uncreative and are just point blank torture!! i mean u guys remember when jigsaw got up at the end of the movie in saw 1 just was fckin awesome! that moment hasn't been repeated in any of the saw series!

Oh yeah the ending of Saw 1 was actually so suprising I did not expect a film with such a simple storyline to end like that.

KarmaValanche
24-10-2008, 05:05 PM
i know! the ending of saw 3 wasn't bad either! you know the one where the kid ends being right infront of them and if the father had just listened to jigsaw nothing would have happened. or was that the 2nd part! i think it was the 3rd! alls i'm saying is that wasn't bad either!!

Now your just defending yourself, buddy. Now you're saying "original was best"
you should have said that earlier.
every movie that i have listed there are counted as a sequel. Fk cares what you think and every movie i've listed is atleast good enough if not better than the originals.
You just can't say "sequel is ALWAYS worse". Glad that you've realized that now, I guess.

I didn't realise ****. I stand by my views, and they aren't technically sequels if they are part of a planned trilogy/saga. It'd be like saying every TV show in a series after the first one is sequel, which would just be stupid.

snookid
24-10-2008, 11:06 PM
Technically yes, they are counted as sequels even though they are part of a planned trilogy. eg, take Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers, you would say it's sequel to Lord of the Ring:The Fellowship of the Ring. And funny how you could compare sequel with the tv series. christ sake series lasts for months if not years.
Ok even if i support your view then what would you say about Terminator?? Almost all the sequels have more or less continuous storyline.

well anywho that's not my point, all i'm trying to say is sequel is not always worse. Forget about LOTR, Star Wars or even Matrix but still we are left with plenty of good sequels we could talk about.
