Absence

Late at night alone in my bed
Covered in nothing but a blanket
Staring at the tall wide walls
Listening to songs that bring tears to all

Something strange lingering inside
Incomplete, insecurity, maybe, it might
A piece of my heart is nowhere to be found
Because it is with you, and you are not around

Now I know why I’m not smiling
Listening to those songs, I’m at the edge of crying
Your presence keeps me alive
But your absence kills me inside

Close my eyes and I see you
I’m complete because of you
You’re the first on my mind
Each and every time
